Brian Collins – The Imaginals
Brian Collins is one of the most inspirational designers living. His work transcends disciplines and I love his deeply intellectual undertone. This piece, published in January 21, after a year of global disruptions, is a piece that is truly close to my heart. Designers are well equipped to face the uncertainty of the future and help humanity tackle the most pressing issues of our time. To a designer, curiosity is a given. We are comfortable dwelling in a constant state of uncertainty, digging deeper and imagining the new. In the past we have often been overlooked, even dismissed as artists and dreamers, by business people obsessed with efficiency and empirical evidence. But this thinking has led human kind astray from who we are and where we come from – nature, and therefore has led us astray from our very own humanity. Business must evolve and embrace a new paradigm of changing the world for the better. We as designers must take our seat at the table and demand to be heard. “Design — and designers — can change the paradigm to one that embraces the greater whole and the greater good.”
